"Cuisinart 12 cup food processor blows Kitchenaid away!!!" 2010-10-13

I recently purchased the Kitchenaid 12 cup food processor. After using it for 3 weeks, I returned it for the 12 cup Cuisinart, and so glad I did. They are not even in the same ball park. 1. The stem inside the bowl of the Kitchenaid is too short and liquid leaks all over the place/ The cuisinarts stem is very long, and the blade LOCKS into place. No leaks. 2. The blade locks in on the cuisinart, so if you are pouring, it stays put, not so on the kitchen aid. 3. There is a pour spout on the cuisinart and makes it easy to pour your mixtures into a bowl easily, not so on the kitchen, it makes a mess and runs down the side. 4. The blades snap on and off easily with the cuisinart. 5. the small mixing bowl blades also locks, so when you make dressing for example, you just leave it attached to the big bowl, and pour it over your meal. The kitchen aid did not, so you have to take it all apart just to simply pour from it. 6. The plastic bowls on the Cuisinart are a much higher quality than the Kitchenaid, 7. Cusinart comes with a recipe book and a VERY helpful DVD. Kitchen aid, nothing, your own your own. 7. The top to the storage case on the cusinart has hinges and a lock, so pulling it out of a cabinet is easy and pieces stay secure. The kitchenaids is cheap, and the lid falls off and the contents go everywhere.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. Do yourself a favor and stick with the tried and true Cusinart, you will love it!!!! No comparison.

great machine with two issues, locking system for blades is not that great. The dough blade does not lock at all. I have had it raise during dough cycle and get dough up inside dough blade housing. Messy. Rather inconvenient when using smaller bowls to have to clean ALL of them.

The positive is that it works great. Easy to clean. Nice storage box. Love the retractable cord.

The negative - If you don't the the back part of the top of the machine hooked over the back part of the bottom of the machine - what a mess! Be very careful, because the machine leaks somewhat as it is, and if the top isn't on exactly right, the machine will run, but leaks really bad.

Only gripe I have, is don't always notice the lid isn't down all the way. Handle part clicks, but the front isn't always in. Just need to double check it is all. ON the other hand, I love all the parts that come with it. The different size bowls are good to make smaller batches. I love that the cord is retractable!!!! I always keep it on the counter, but don't have room to keep all things I need, plugged in. Makes less cord mess. It is my new fave kitchen toy.

This is one of the small kitchen appliances that I use the most. I don't really use the special slicing or grating blades that much (although the slicing blade is perfect for apple pie), but I chop and puree the heck out of fruits, vegetables, and nuts, as well as making sauces and things that need both chopping and emulsifying. The capacity is perfect since I'm usually cooking for just me - there have only been a couple of times I was chopping for a large dinner and wish I had the larger one.

I also appreciate that it's loaded with multiple safety mechanisms to make extra sure that you don't accidentally chop your hand off.

I really , really , really like this food processor. It is a great time saver and has brought my cooking to a new level because who has a lot of time these days... Clean up is a unbelievably easy. Now I want to cook all the time! I actually go out of my way to find recipes that include lots of ingredients requiring chopping, slicing, dicing and grating. Before I used to avoid these types of recipes because I couldn't stand having to do all the prep work. This is the best thing I have bought myself in a long time. I can't believe it has taken me so long to buy a food processor. I think this is the best food processor - it's very easy to use, the instruction book & video are clear and understandable. While I'm sure the bigger, fancier processors can do a lot more, this one is perfect for me since it is easy to clean, simple to understand and easy to use.

Rarely do I truly feel like I got my money's worth when it comes to kitchen appliances. But the mini food processor from Cuisinar has been a great addition to my kitchen and helped easy a novice chef into cooking.

Let me start by saying that this thing shreds just about everything with ease. Don't let the size fool you, it's got power and the blades are sharp. I haven't had any issues yet with chopping anything and been surprised at how easy it's been.

The next great benefit is the ease of cleaning. It's been through the dishwasher countless times and come out perfect every time. The smaller size means it doesn't fill up the dishwasher either and I can get some of the small food prep easily done with little mess. A must-have for anyone who is not typically making big meals.

All in all a durable, convenient, and affordable appliance. $40 well-spent for an item that can handle the food processing duties for someone who doesn't need a big, bulky one in their kitchen.

One important safety note. The blade is extremely sharp. I mean sharp enough to slice through a sponge with ease. So be real careful cleaning it by hand and even taking it out of the device. I was a little careless at first and it gave me a nasty cut without even noticing. One of the sharpest blades I've ever handled.

I read many of the reviews and was influenced by them, and I finally broke down and purchased one. It is my favorite kitchen appliance! It quickly chops nuts, herbs, garlic & ginger with amazing efficiency. A quick bread crumb maker and a good salad dressing mixer. It's great for making small pesto batches. It is very powerful. It fits together easily,and the best part is how easy it is to clean. Because it is so small it lives on our countertop for easy access. I considered getting the 2 cup processor but am very glad I didn't. Any smaller would be too small. It really is perfect. You will rarely use a full size food processor again, and then realize how cumbersome the full size processors are, and how difficult they are to clean. No regrets!

I owned a large cuisinart food processor for years. Although it could do many tasks well, it was so complicated that I nearly always had to re-read the instructions each time I used it and it often took longer to clean its many parts than to perform a task. It also took up a lot of storage space, so I gave it to my daughter when i started downsizing. I got by with a good blender and a sharp knife, but missed the processor, mostly for pesto & hummus with some crunch and for small amounts of salad dressing & for chopping garlic. When I saw the miniprep, I decided to give it a try. It is actually better than I expected. It performs just like my fancy old processor without all the fuss and cleanup. Takes up very little counter space in my very little kitchen, cleans easily, is SIMPLE to use and simple to clean to use again !
