"Bad design, cheaply made cracked within a month" 2010-09-22
By Paulene Quig
The back plastic where all the wired attach to the iron is poorly made and takes all the rotational force. It cracked after a MONTH of light use. Not worth the price and very disappointing. Also uneven heating between both sides.

"Great purchase" 2010-09-17
By Diana M West
No disappointment here. Just don't overfill or it is hard to rotate. Less is best for the amount of batter used.

"Great Waffle Maker" 2010-09-05
By Gary Calega (Marlton, NJ United States)
This product works as advertised. If your are making waffles for 6 grandchildren at a time, you need a device that makes more than one at a time.

The only caution I have is to follow the directions exactly as to how much batter to put in the waffle iron. Do this and you'll love the results.

Amazon.com Review

A waffle baker, grill, and griddle, this three-in-one appliance comes in handy during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and after school. Key to the unit's versatility are two 8-inch-square cooking plates--one set into the product's bottom and the other into the hinged top. On one side the plates form grids for making four waffles at once. Flipped over to show their flat sides they're capable of top and bottom grilling a sandwich or steak. To create griddle space, the top opens up flat, forming two 8-inch-square cooking surfaces for all foods that love a griddle--such as pancakes, hash browns, and eggs. Channels send grease to spouts in the griddles' corners, where it drains away. Nonstick to release food easily and wipe clean, the cooking plates also can be removed for scrubbing. A heat control offers high, low, and medium temperatures. With its chrome housing and stay-cool black synthetic handles, this 900-watt appliance looks great on the counter. Afterward, the cord wraps around the hinge, plus you can stand the unit upright for compact storage. It measures 11-1/4 inches wide, 5 inches high, and 11-3/4 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

"It's not non-stick" 2010-08-28
By Pam Meyer
The few times I have tried to use this waffle iron the waffles have stuck so bad that I had to soak and scrub them off. I just stuck the waffle iron in the closet out of frustration. I even oiled it before pouring the batter on to see if that would help. It didn't. I've never had such a bad waffle iron.

"Very Disappointing" 2010-08-25
By M. Baker (Louisville, KY)
I've had this appliance for several years and used it lightly (2x per month). The plates have never heated evenly - one side was always hotter than the other. Now it's so bad the waffles only get done on one side.

"Couldn't even use it once!" 2010-08-24
By joeshmoe (MA)
Despite some negative reviews, I purchased this waffle iron to replace my old one. My old one was the exact same design, but by another maker (Grill Max, I think). My previous waffle iron was amazing and lasted seven years. I used it about 4 times a month for the last 5 years. No really. I love waffles. I never had any issues with it, until one day something blew and it wouldn't power on anymore. So I decided to try the Black and Decker version. Maybe I just got a defective one. But the bottom plate wouldn't stay on. It kept popping off...as soon as I got it out of the box. I certainly can't cook with a waffle iron if the plate won't stay down on the heating element.

Thank you Amazon for making returns easy.

"Good for Waffles" 2010-08-23
By Toterose
Trying to save space and time, I purchased this waffle baker to replace a much smaller one and a very nice Cuisinart Griddler for pancakes. And since I only seem to make waffles and pancakes when we have a crowd, I wanted them to come out fast and plenty. The new B&D Waffle Baker does a great job on the waffles, but used as a griddle, heats unevenly. We love the waffles and the ease of cleaning. Overall, a good choice, but not as good outside the waffle making. I guess I'l have to make space for both the B&D and the Cuisinart!

"Waffles" 2010-08-21
By Fred
Overall, the waffle iron is almost identical to the one I bought 30 yrs ago. Works well except it cooks quicker on one side than the other. Not a deal breaker but not preferable. Much better than anything I found on the shelf at any of the box stores.

"Finally...the perfect waffle maker..." 2010-08-19
By B. L. Dvorachek (Wisconsin)
I have been searching for the perfect waffle maker for some time. My kids love waffles for breakfast and my old cheap waffle iron no longer was functional. I purchased the heart shape waffle maker with rave reviews from Amazon but I could never get the waffles as crisp as I would have liked. If you are looking for restaurant quality...large crisp waffle...you have found the right product. Do your self a favor and pair it with the Heartland Food Product Waffle Mix sold on amazon and you will not believe your results. My search is finally over...

"Incredible Waffles From a Great Waffle Maker" 2010-08-15
By Anonamazon (Pennsylvania)
I purchased this waffle maker based on the great reviews on Amazon. Believe them. It's easy to use, easy to clean and makes great waffles. It's a well-designed product. The flip mechanism seems to contribute to the quality of the waffles. Crispy on both sides and soft in the middle. The griddle plates can be stored in an upright position. The timer is very simple -- you add time incrementally by pushing the minute or 30-sec buttons. The timer starts to count down about 3 seconds after you last push a button. You can't turn the alarm off once it's set, so if you find the three tone alarm to be annoying (as some reviewers have), don't use the timer. Takes about 3 minutes to make a waffle.

"Works fantastic!" 2010-08-15

Makes a perfect waffle every time. It cooks all the way through, so no undone areas and its easy to clean, store. It's a very good product for the money.

"lord of the rings" 2010-08-12
By leslie
I am usually a little suspicious of the negative reviews on sites. Most often, I think that if people are paying attention, the product will work. Well, go with the reviews on this one. There is a ring of nearly burnt waffle around the barely browned center. At first, I wasn't putting in enough batter and sometimes forgot to turn it over, but after correcting for those errors, the baking is consistently uneven. I'm sending this one back.

"Good belgian waffler" 2010-08-08
By Nataliebeth3
This is a great waffle maker that does its job just fine- delicious waffles! I like that it flips the waffle like one of the fancy ones that turn, but doesn't take up nearly as much room, or make you look like you are crazy for having one of those in your kitchen! Sure the timer is separate (and battery operated) and it doesn't automatically shut off (you have to unplug it), but who cares? The result is a delicious, restaurant quality waffle.
