Amazon.com Review

You don't need a 6- gallon oil vat to enjoy deep- fried foods at home--this petite deep fryer makes four big servings with just 4 cups of oil. A compact 7 inches in diameter, the fryer features easy controls for precision frying: it automatically maintains the proper frying temperature, letting you focus on cooking instead of fussing with the controls. The fryer features a snap-on lid, so you can store oil right in the fryer for reuse. All surfaces are nonstick for tidy cleanup (the fryer is not dishwasher-safe and should never be completely immersed in water). A hand scoop is included with the fryer for easy stirring, lifting, and draining, and the 120-volt AC cord unplugs from the outlet, while the attached handle makes the fryer easy to move around the kitchen. The fryer has a two-year limited warranty. --Ariel Meadow Stallings

"DO NOT get this for fried chicken." 2010-09-12
By Cliff
It runs about 25 degrees too hot. The breading will be way too dark by the time the meat is thoroughly cooked. I had to learn that the hard way. The people saying they're cooking wings must be using frozen pre-cooked wings or something. Egg rolls and chimichangas didn't come out great in this thing either. Everything else has been fine. I'd only use this unit for small things that don't require a lot of cooking time like fritters or seafood. Also, don't put the lid on until the unit is cooled down, or else it will melt.

frying became a lot easier with this. we should have bought it long time ago. This doesn't have a temperature controller but still works fine.
new model released with it. if you think of buying this, go get new model with temp. controller

"Fucntional. Compact. Accurate. Straightforward. 5 stars." 2010-08-18
By J. MACLEAN (Centreville, VA.)
Primarily I bought this because I like to make french fries at home (steak-frites anyone?), and I had grown tired of doing it in the stockpot, and guessing at the temperature. To be sure, this is basically a bucket that holds oil. But it's one that has the ever important feature of automatically heating to 375F. That's really all I need and want. It doesn't have a bunch of features, save for the automatic heating and quick release plug. And that's what I wanted.

Objectively, it's not huge, so it's hard to imagine producing fries for more than a pair of 200 pound adults, but for some items, you may be able to cook for 3-4 people, especially if it's a side and not an entree. For making Tonkatsu, for example, I've also used this FryDaddy, and it will hold 2 breaded pork chops.

Be aware the unit is hot to the touch, so it's a good idea to avoid touching the outside for the first 30 minutes after turning it off.

My conclusion is it's efficient for cooking for up to 2 people, but for more, except for children, you'd need to look at a larger capacity unit. With those expectations, I consider it compact, functional, and and an accurate heater of oil. It does what it's designed to do and at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.
