"Not perfect, but very good"

I love my kettle- very fast heating, easy to clean and to fill, compact and always available. It is comfortable to pour, and easy to put back on it's heating element My only complaint is that it does not shut off at once after coming to a boil- it sometimes takes up to a minute of boiling before it shuts off. Despite that, I would recommend this to my friends.

"its really LOUD!!"

I bought this because a friend of mine had one. Her's is amazing. Mine, not quite as amazing. I bought this one because it has a really modern look to it. Thought the other specs would be the same all around. Ya, mine takes a while to heat the water if there's a lot of water in it. To speed things along, we always just put enough water to fill 2 cups. Plus its so loud that if you are watching tv in the next room, you won't be able to hear what you're watching.

I do like it, does the trick, but next time I'm going to ask my friend what brand she has, because although her's is plastic, it heats a full thing of water almost instantly while being really quiet at the same time. Mine is so loud I feel its about to take off into outer space!

"Non-plasticky boiling water in a couple minutes."

This kettle is one of the most frequently-used appliances in my kitchen. I used to microwave the water for my tea or boil water over stovetop. Microwaving wastes a lot of energy and stovetop is just too slow. The Aroma kettle boils a cup of water in under a minute. It is also perfect for brewing coffee in a french press or steeping coffee the grad-student-with-a-broken-coffeemaker way. Tea tastes so much better when the water has just come to a boil.

I really like the fact that there is no major contact of the boiling water with plastic. The only places where the water does come into contact with plastic are:

a) The plastic spout/filter assembly -> I fixed this by taking the assembly off. It's totally unnecessary.
b) The small entrance to the water meter is also plastic -> I am not sure if I can take this off. I might try in the future but it seems like a very minor contact to bother about.

When I first received the Kettle, I got a defective one that wouldn't shut off on its own. It also had a few scratches on the inside wall - spotted with minor rust. I returned that piece and got a very prompt and courteous replacement from Amazon.

Overall, I am really glad I got this Kettle. It has made tea-making at home 10x easier and tastier! I am considering getting one for my office.

"how did I live without this?" 2010-08-25

this is one of the best purchases I have made. I always used a tea kettle on the stovetop and recently visited my son who had one of those little white hotpots[scary little appliances with no off or on switch] but a great and fast way to boil water for tea or recipes. So i went searching for a better product. After going back and forth between several products I purchased this, it is fantastic! water comes to a boil quickly and it looks great on the counter. I highly recommend this product.

"Worth every penny" 2010-08-24

Best kettle I ever had. I never turn empty kettle on because of small window that shows how much water is left in. And with plastic spacious handle, my hands do not get burned anymore. I can not imagine using something else for heating water.
